Contract Length:  215 days

 

JOB SUMMARY:  This district position supports student achievement by engaging with the community to encourage internal and external support of District initiatives, as well as oversee all activities of the career and technical education programs for Pea Ridge Junior High and High School. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  other duties may be assigned; duties may vary according to grade level and/or district need

 

Communications:

  • Serve as representative of the district to share accurate and timely information
  • Maintain relationships with media, school sites, parent groups, and community leaders to facilitate the spread of positive stories and important information
  • Assist in developing communication guidelines and procedures for handling sensitive information or media contact
  • Update District websites and social media channels with timely and relevant information
  • Work with site parent engagement coordinators and administrators to standardize District and school information and branding 
  • Prepare and distribute press releases and communications to staff, parents and community, and media 
  • Collect media and materials for use in district communications and outreach
  • Maintain master editorial calendar of information about District activities, programs, initiatives, and events open to the public 
  • Prepare advertising and promotions of District programs 
  • Prepare presentations using a variety of technologies and tools 

 

Career and Technical Education:

  • Oversee all career and technical programs of study for high school and junior high school, including college and career readiness 
  • Work with campuses to ensure the creation and consistency of the Student Success Plans, AR Act 930 of 2017
  • Guide and monitor development of K-12 Pathways as related to requirements outlined with Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education - Division of Career and Technical Education
  • Guide development of program materials, branding and public relations
  • Write grants to educational agencies for funds or materials for career and technical programs and courses
  • Prepare documentation for program or course changes/additions/deletions
  • Record and maintain detailed documentation of supplies and equipment purchased with local/state/national funds
  • Administer the career and technical education budget, including purchasing, fund balances, and submitting reimbursement requests
  • Comply with policies and procedures associated with Carl Perkins federal funds
  • Report student information to state educational agencies
  • Assist instructors in maintaining exemplary programs and courses
  • Analyze and interpret student data to assess student needs for post-secondary support
  • Serve as a representative of the career and technical programs to the community
  • Attend local/state/regional advisory meetings

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required 

Master’s Degree in the Field of Education preferred

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

State of Arknasas Teacher Licensure

State of Arkansas Licensure  in CTE area preferred

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general counseling periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, table, or schedule form.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to counseling program; ability to plan and implement individual and group lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to use appropriate language and accompanying techniques with adolescents on one to one basis as well as in groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
