REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

 

 

Summary: The Technology Specialist has specific responsibility for seeing that technology applications are functioning appropriately at all school campuses.

 

Requirements: This full-time position requires a person who has the technical knowledge and sufficient understanding to comprehend the entire scope of technology administrative and instructional utilization in a school district. This person must have specific programming and computer diagnostic skills sufficient to solve problems, maintain security, and implement technology utilization throughout the District.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Has primary responsibility for seeing that technology is working effectively
• Acts as a backup to the Network Administrator for the administrative center and all other campuses
• Acts as a backup to the Network Administrator in media presentations to the public
• Installs software applications and upgrades as appropriate
• Provides consultation to District administrators and teachers regarding the integration of curriculum and technology
• Provides consultation to the Technology Director and Superintendent concerning promising emerging technology applications
• Assists technology users in resolving problems associated with ordering, service, and support
• Provides support (general user errors, software configuration errors) to library media specialists or their designees
• Assesses failed technology equipment with recommendations to the Director to repair or replace
• Assesses intermittent equipment failures
• Installs, repairs, and replaces computer workstations for staff and students
• Installs, repairs, and replaces audio/visual equipment
• Assists end users with equipment connections and usage (LCD panels/projectors, laptops, special class configurations)
• Provides scheduled site-visit support to classroom teachers via coaching or modeling for the utilization of technology tools and resources to support student learning
• Other duties as assigned

 

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• General knowledge of computers and related technologies as they apply to K-12 education
• General knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of local and wide area networks, Internet, intranets, distributed learning, and distance learning
• Ability to assist users and trainers with software and hardware
• Ability to train educators and support staff in the use of software and hardware
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization

Must have background in education and experience in technology applications
